Learn/refine fundamentals of hunting North American big game, with a focus on Mule Deer sized animals.

WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO IN THE CLASS

Thunder Ranch is excited to offer a new course for those wanting to learn/refine their fundamentals of hunting North American big game, with a focus on Mule Deer sized animals. This course takes a comprehensive look at all aspects of hunting from personal gear choices, appropriate firearms, strategies in locating your game, and caring for your harvest after the shot.

The Hunt will deliver the most realistic hunting experience possible. As such, it is a physically demanding class that will include: many hours under actual field conditions, hiking 2-3 miles in mountainous terrain, stalking game, and shooting in actual backcountry settings, all while learning and using the field positions necessary to make a clean shot in uneven terrain.

Your rifle selection should be centered around a standard hunting rifle for the taking of an animal in the 150-250 pound range. A bolt action rifle is preferred, in .24 to .30 caliber, non-magnum [ranges will be out to 350 yards], mounted with a variable mid-range scope would be ideal for this class. Target or tactical rifles are not recommended.

If you are unsure or have a special caliber request, please ask.
