The adaptation of modern fighting carbines into precision shooting platforms comes with its pros and cons. LR Scoped AR will expose you to the abilities and constraints of your chosen system, and you will leave with the personal skills and knowledge to get the most out of your platform, and what changes may/may not make sense, for engaging threats from the critical Danger Close ranges of 0-300 yards, to well past doubling that on targets out to 700 yards.

What is traditionally considered boltgun functionality, extended-range precision marksmanship, the modern semi-auto AR platform has a lot to offer in multiple target-rich environments under tight time constraints, varying distances, and unconventional shooting positions. But it’s not without its distractions either: height-over-bore sighting systems, pistol gripped stocks, magazine lengths, use of a sling to support alternate shooting positions, etc. all come into play and need to be considered AND PRACTICED around well before an actual real-world engagement. LR Scoped AR is the class to learn from the industry’s best instructors, on the proving grounds of one of the countries premier rifle ranges, all directed by the subject matters’ best teacher, Clint Smith.

This is NOT a square range smallest group wins class. This is a real-world shoot, move, problem solve on the fly class. Clint and the TR Training staff will guide you on day to through exercises, on Punisher urban environment simulator, support you with targets from muzzle contact to 700 yards dialing DOPE and using hold offs shoot from positions OTHER than prone –accurately!— and be very proficient with your chosen rifle/optic/accessory system under adverse conditions, tight time requirements, with multiple threat engagements at varying distances, all while contending with our awesome mountain wind and weather!

What you need to know:

Primarily focused on the AR-style rifle in .223 set up as a Designated Marksman Rifle [DMR], AKs or other semi-automatic modern small caliber rifles [SCAR, etc] with magnified optics are also acceptable in this class. Low to mid-power range optics are ideal [1-8, 2.5-10, 3-15, etc], Red Dots with a swing-in magnifier can work, but extended precision shots will be hard-earned. Optics with quality adjustments are highly recommended, as is a MIL based ranging reticle [simpler the better here]. For 5.56 shooters, 69 to 75 grain OTM is suggested, but regardless of caliber or platform, any premium ammo would be appropriate. Quality bipod and sling are highly recommended, but NOT mandatory. 20-round mags may have some advantages at times…

Nominal 500 rounds of quality ammo. Frangible is NOT needed for this course.
