HART is the next step in the precision rifle series that stretches the reach of the of the shooter with their rifle. YOU MUST BE PHYSICALLY FIT AND CAPABLE to hike at high altitude for extended periods of time carrying your own rifle, ammo, gear, and water for the day.
Most packs weigh at minimum 35 pounds fully loaded. Be prepared for a physically taxing course. HART class includes flat range work from pristine positions for the first two days of the class, then places students in field expedient and practical shooting positions at intermediate and extended distances for 2 more days.
In addition to flat range data, students will experience and gain data from altitude while engaging targets at extreme angles with heavy and ever changing wind. Students must ensure their rifle is in sound working order with the ammunition they intend to bring (NO MAGNUMS). Students SHOULD come to class with a 100 yard zero already established in the rifle with the same ammunition and load they intend to shoot in the class.
Students must also bring all necessary tools and wrenches to ensure their bases, rings, and scope are properly mounted and torqued daily. Students MUST also bring their manual for their scope and ARE REQUIRED to read their manual twice PRIOR to coming to class.
Rifle packs that allow for hands free climbing are recommended. Mid-Range Rifle Course is recommended as a prerequisite.
